How NetSuite pricing and renewals really work, what the 2026 contract says, and what 50 users report.

Various accounting-related graphs featuring NetSuite's logo, serving as a thumbnail for an article titled NetSuite review

NetSuite is a capable cloud ERP for growing groups of companies, but its biggest risks sit in the learning curve, the implementation, and the contract. We coded 50 recent Capterra and Trustpilot reviews and found that happy users mostly struggle to learn it, while unhappy ones mostly complain about cost and renewals. We also walk through the June 2026 contract (non-cancellable orders, renewals at Oracle's then-current pricing, a 60-day window to retrieve your data) and explain why OneWorld doesn't fit firms serving unrelated clients.

NetSuite is one of the most capable cloud ERPs for growing groups of companies, but recent NetSuite reviews show the risks are the learning curve, the implementation, and the contract, not the accounting features.

We looked at NetSuite from two sides: the finance team buying it, and the accountants and family offices working with it.

Is NetSuite Worth It?

NetSuite is worth it if you're one company group that needs a full ERP (accounting plus inventory, orders, and revenue recognition) and can budget for implementation and an admin.

It's a poor fit for small businesses, for accounting firms serving unrelated clients, and for anyone who can't commit to a long contract.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Prices aren't public. You get a quote based on platform, modules, and users, plus a one-time implementation fee.
  • Renewals default to Oracle's current pricing, so a first-year discount can disappear.
  • You can't cancel an order, and it auto-renews for a year unless you give 30 days' written notice.
  • The learning curve is the top complaint in the 50 reviews we coded, even among happy users.

How Much Does NetSuite Cost?

NetSuite doesn't publish prices. You pay an annual license for the core platform, any modules, and your users, plus a one-time implementation fee.

  • OneWorld (for multiple subsidiaries), Advanced Customer Support, and training all cost extra. The only price signals come from users.
  • Anne, a Trustpilot reviewer, said a sales rep told her the starting price was "over $1,000" once he heard her revenue.
  • Karin L., another reviewer, put her former employer's project at £100,000.
  • Renewals can also raise the price. NetSuite’s contract says renewal pricing is "then current Oracle pricing, unless otherwise agreed." Reviewers such as Chris W. describe negotiated discounts being removed and costs rising 45% in two years.

Here's how that can play out, using our own made-up figures:

Cost Metric Year 1 Year 2
List price $50,000 $50,000
Discount 30% (not locked in for renewal) None
You pay $35,000 $50,000 (+43%)

If your term ends December 31, your written non-renewal notice has to reach Oracle by December 1. If you miss it, you owe the next year.

The best defense is proactive contract structuring: ensure your legal team negotiates an explicit annual renewal price cap (e.g., capped at 3% to 5%) written directly into the signed Order Form or addendum schedule, which generally overrides standard renewal escalation terms.

What Accounting Features Does NetSuite Include?

NetSuite provides the framework for core general ledger operations, payables, receivables, bank reconciliation, tax calculation, fixed assets, and financial period closes.

It includes governance, audit trail, and revenue recognition features designed to support compliance with ASC 606, US GAAP, and SOX internal control frameworks, provided the system is configured, permissioned, and managed properly by your administrative team.

The standout features are for groups of companies.

How Does the NetSuite General Ledger Work?

NetSuite built the ledger to be customizable. You can add unlimited custom segments (fund, program, product line) on top of subsidiary, department, class, and location, and split shared costs across subsidiaries with preset rules.

Journal entries can go through approval rules, such as amount limits, before they post. It’s flexible, but reviewers said you need an admin or consultant to get it right.

How Does NetSuite Handle Multiple Entities?

Through OneWorld, an add-on that manages subsidiaries in one account with real-time consolidation.

Users who manage corporate groups praise the visibility. "Being able to consolidate all of our companies in multi currency quickly has saved a significant amount of time," said Mark T. on Capterra.

However, while OneWorld automates currency translation and consolidated rollups on the fly, real-time consolidation doesn’t remove the manual work of the financial close.

Accounting teams must still execute bank and balance sheet reconciliations, post elimination entries, verify intercompany trade balancing, lock accounting periods, and audit user permissions across subsidiaries.

The contract adds limits the product page doesn't mention. OneWorld covers the customer and its majority-owned subsidiaries, all in one shared environment where entities "may be able to access, view, use... each other's content."

Family offices with trusts or holdings owned by different family members should confirm in writing how those entities will be licensed.

See our guides to family office structure and multi-entity accounting for more information.

Does NetSuite Support Multiple Currencies and Accounting Books?

Yes. OneWorld supports more than 190 currencies and 27 languages, records transactions in local and base currency at the same time, and restates currencies for consolidated reports.

For international operations, Full Multi-Book Accounting (available through OneWorld) lets you record concurrent financial books from a single business event, maintaining parallel ledgers under distinct standards such as US GAAP and local statutory IFRS.

However, it must be provisioned and implemented through NetSuite Professional Services or an authorized partner, and the engine supports up to five active accounting books (including the primary book) per subsidiary.

What Reports Can You Build in NetSuite?

NetSuite lets you build standard financial statements, plus saved searches and custom reports across any segment, which you can schedule by email.

Building them takes practice. Heath B., a Capterra reviewer, said report builders face "5-10 different fields to choose from with the same name and many return no information."

What Other Features Does NetSuite Offer?

Beyond core accounting, NetSuite covers payables, receivables, bank feeds, and financial close checklists. However, buyers should recognize that several flagship capabilities are licensed as separate modules that expand your initial quote and implementation scope:

  • OneWorld: Required for multi-subsidiary management, intercompany eliminations, and multi-currency consolidation.
  • SuiteTax: An engine for complex global tax automation and VAT/GST compliance.
  • Fixed Assets Management (FAM): Dedicated tracking for asset depreciation, schedules, and disposals.
  • Advanced Revenue Management (ARM): For rule-based revenue scheduling and multi-element arrangements under ASC 606/IFRS 15.
  • Full Multi-Book Accounting: For maintaining secondary, parallel accounting ledgers.

Reviews are mixed on some modules: Mark T., a group financial controller, called fixed assets "slow and clunky" and said updates had broken bank feeds and VAT reporting.

If revenue recognition is your main need, compare options in our revenue recognition software guide.

What Do NetSuite Users Complain About?

It depends on where you look. NetSuite has 4.2/5 on Capterra (2,073 reviews), where most reviewers still use it, and 1.5/5 on Trustpilot (51), where most are frustrated or former customers.

We coded 50 reviews by every complaint they mention:

Capterra users mostly say it's hard to learn: 8 of the 10 positive reviews mention it. Trustpilot users mostly talk about money, and half of them complain about cost.

Speed complaints are specific. Francois V., a controller, said it took 30 to 60 seconds to open a sales order four months after go-live. We translated his review from Dutch.

Note: You won't find independent, published software speed-benchmark reports online because Oracle's standard cloud services agreement explicitly bars customers from publishing formal performance, benchmark, or load-testing results. Individual users can still share subjective feedback and latency experiences in reviews, however.

What Should You Know About the NetSuite Contract?

NetSuite’s contract places most of the risks on you. The June 2026 US contract says:

  • Orders can't be cancelled and fees aren't refundable. Josiah S., a Trustpilot reviewer, said NetSuite made his company pay "for the full remaining two‑year term" after a restructuring, before it used the product.
  • Sales promises don't count unless they're in the order form. The contract disclaims reliance on prior discussions, emails, and RFPs.
  • Oracle isn't responsible for your implementation partner unless that partner is Oracle's subcontractor on your order.
  • Your data has an extraction deadline: Upon termination, Oracle provides a 60-day retrieval window during which you can request access to retrieve your data (assisted extraction services may incur added fees). Once that 60-day period expires, your data is queued for permanent purging and will be rendered completely inaccessible and deleted within 10 months following the expiration of the retrieval window.
Pro Tip: Export full data dumps, master transaction records, and historical reports before your active subscription term terminates rather than relying on post-contract transition windows.

Why Do So Many NetSuite Reviews Mention Implementation?

NetSuite has to be heavily configured before it can process transactions, and implementation is contracted as a standalone professional engagement. 16 of the 50 reviews we analyzed cited major implementation friction:

  • "The internal Oracle implementation team was scattered, constantly changed, and rushed us to go live," said Heath B. on Capterra.
  • An anonymous reviewer said a runaway process blocked their close for over a month: "We could not close our books."

Much of these frustrations happen when software is purchased before internal finance architecture is ready.

Before configuration starts, your finance team must establish clean operational foundations: a unified global chart of accounts, defined subsidiary hierarchies, structured intercompany billing flows, local tax logic, month-end closing schedules, and reporting dimensions.

When budgeting, evaluate the implementation partner, the detailed statement of work (SOW), historical data conversion, and post-launch hypercare separately from software subscription licenses.

An industry-leading ERP platform paired with an under-scoped implementation plan or misaligned partner will still result in an unsuccessful deployment.

How Good Is NetSuite Support?

NetSuite’s basic support is mostly self-service through the SuiteAnswers portal, and faster help is a paid add-on.

15 of the 50 reviews complain about support or account managers, often about managers changing and fixes that come with a price tag.

Not everyone agrees: Haimal K., a CEO, said on September 2026 that support had "improved a lot over the last few months."

Can Accountants Use NetSuite With Their Clients?

Yes. Through SuiteAccountants, each client account gets one free seat for a member accountant, with the client's written approval. NetSuite or the client can end that access at any time.

What an accounting firm generally can’t do under standard agreements is manage multiple unrelated client books inside a single internal NetSuite account.

  • Standard contracts prohibit "service bureau" or commercial timesharing usage, and OneWorld is structured for legal entities with shared ownership rather than arms-length clients.
  • In practice, a firm serving 12 separate NetSuite clients will manage 12 distinct client account instances, each requiring separate provisioning and individual approvals.
  • Firms looking at alternative shared setups should verify their intended licensing structure with Oracle in writing.
For firm-side tools, see our guide to accounting software for CPA firms.
Before You Sign: NetSuite’s SuiteAccountants and partner alliance programs often offer referral fees or reseller commissions on first-year client software contracts. If an external consultant or accounting firm recommends NetSuite, ask whether they participate in vendor referral or revenue-sharing programs. Transparent disclosures matter across the industry; Eleven's own partner program similarly compensates accredited resellers and affiliates.

How Does NetSuite Compare to Eleven?

NetSuite wins on ERP breadth. Eleven wins on transparent pricing, flexible contracts, and many unrelated entities under one login.

We scored both on the same scale:

  • 1 = documented
  • 2 = shown in a demo
  • 3 = confirmed by users.
